Are you ready to explore the world of documentary photography and learn from a seasoned professional? Join Mugur for a three-day intensive workshop that will take you on a journey of self-discovery and artistic exploration.

In this workshop, you will learn the mindset and framework required to become a powerful and thoughtful photographer. Through a series of lectures, group discussions, and hands-on shooting opportunities, you will gain the skills and confidence needed to create compelling documentary photography.

Our learning objectives include:

Mindset and preparation: Before accessing a vulnerable community, there are important things to consider. We’ll discuss how to approach the story and how to gain the trust of your subjects.

Observation abilities: Learn to increase your observation abilities and become more aware of your surroundings.

What to do/what not to do: Learn the dos and don’ts of photographing strangers and how to respect their privacy.

Editing and sequencing: Understand the importance of editing and sequencing in storytelling and how to use photography to give voice to important social issues.

Giving voice to social issues: Learn how to use photography to give voice to important social issues and tell compelling stories.

As part of this workshop, students will have the opportunity to show their work to Mugur and share ideas and suggestions about how to create a body of work. We’ll focus on how to reveal your soul in a photographic project and the process of editing.

You’ll also have the opportunity to shoot side-by-side with Mugur in the community and ask questions in real time. Mugur will start to edit everyone’s work in front of the class, explaining the process.

One of the unique aspects of this workshop is the unparalleled access granted by Mugur’s 10 years of uninterrupted work in the community. Full fees must be paid on application.
We reserve the right to cancel groups with less than 4 participants. Students will be given a full refund. In the event of cancellation, students will be given at least 3 weeks advance notice.
We the right to change or alter the program advertised.
Cancellations: We will reimburse all the registration costs except for a 10% of the costs for administrative fee, if you inform us of cancellation at least 45 days before the first day of the Workshop. Beyond this time limit, we will charge the following: 50% of the cost if canceled between 44 and 30 days before the Workshop commences. 100% of the cost if canceled less than 30 days before the Workshop commences.
